O'Neill savours magical Euro send-off as Celts storm to stunning win

MARTIN O'Neill insists Celtic's Dutch masterclass was the sweetest way for him to sign off in Europe.

And the interim boss challenged the Hoops squad to finish the job in the Europa League under incoming manager Wilfried Nancy O'Neill was beaming after Celts stunned Feyenoord 3-1 to blast back into the frame to reach the knockout stages. It is the club's first away win on the continent since beating Ferencvaros FOUR years ago - a run of 15 games.

The 73-year-old is expected to be in the dugout one last time in Sunday's Premiership clash with Hibs at Easter Road.

But he'll savour another stunning Euro success.

O'Neill said: "Absolutely.

I'm thrilled for the team.

"There's a bit of selfishness to it, of course, but it was lovely to win, not just away from home but at Feyenoord. It was terrific.

"It is really big. Winning away from home is terrific.

That's not easy in Europe, it's certainly not easy here.

"The very obvious thing is it gives them confidence and a bit of belief they can actually compete.
