Stu's winner takes some pressure off Dons gaffer

ABERDEEN dug in to defy injury-hit Kilmarnock as Stuart Armstrong's first Dons goal claimed a big win for Jimmy Thelin.

Armstrong's 18th-minute finish was enough for a third victory in four league games and moved the Dons up to 10th in the table.

Kilmarnock never stopped trying to unearth an equaliser but, in a feisty contest, Thelin's men kept a confidenceboosting clean sheet.

Killie suffered a third defeat in a row and remain eighth. They laid siege to the Aberdeen goal in the second half yet the likes of Mats Knoester and Jack Milne hurled themselves in the way.

Robbie Deas missed a huge chance when unmarked at a corner and saw Dimi Mitov deny him from close range.

Marcus Dackers and Greg Kiltie also went close for Killie who can count themselves unfortunate not to get a draw.

Thelin has some welcome breathing space and if the Dons prove capable of grinding out results more often then they might start to look above them in the table.
