ARNE SLOT has challenged his players to prove they have finally adapted to a summer of sweeping change when they face Manchester United at Anfield tomorrow.

- BY PAUL GORST

The Reds’ transfer window was historic, as they spent a record sum close to £450million. That splurge included breaking the British record twice for first £116m Florian Wirtz and then Alexander Isak at £125m.

Liverpool recouped around half of that in sales as eight players were signed and 10 departed. The adaptation process of so many new arrivals was a contributing factor behind three successive defeats, against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Chelsea.

But Slot thinks now is the time for his reshaped team to improve their patchy form.

He said: “You are expecting more and more if players are longer together. So you would expect it to go better and better.

“If you lose three in a row you have to do better. It should not matter who we play on Sunday.
