O'Neill desperate for quality signings ASAP to help title bid He says Kyogo return is off and warns Cal going nowhere

- BY RYAN MCDONALD

MARTIN O'NEILL insists Celtic need ready-made quality in the door quickly to rescue the club's title bid.

The Hoops won't be resigning fans' favourite Kyogo Furuhashi - at least for now - after the striker rejected an emotional Parkhead return to fight for his future at Birmingham City.

O'Neill will now move on to other targets as he looks to bolster his goal-shy frontline. But the 73-year-old admits they need January deals over the line ASAP. He said: "I need players, if we can, who are ready to go. I need players to be ready.

"My job is to aim for that.

I am selfish, I need people in to go now. I am going for both quantity and quality.

"Number one, you want someone to help the squad. That's a given.

"If I was given some sort of assurance that something would happen in 10 days, I might wait for that.

But I can't wait forever.

"We have three weeks and a lot of games between now and then. I do accept this is a difficult time and it's not ideal but we do need something" Celts tabled an ambitious loan bid to tempt Kyogo back to Glasgow 12 months after flogging him to Rennes.
