Amputee wins praise from sheriff for battling back from injuries

- BY MICHAEL MCQUAID

A FORMER gangster who lost a leg in a machete attack has dodged jail after a sheriff saluted the way he dealt with his injuries.

A crime boss ordered a brutal attack on James Sheridan after blaming him for losing cannabis and £104,000 in dirty cash seized by cops.

The 31-year-old, who was left for dead, lost two fingers and suffered serious head injuries during a violent ambush at his home in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, in May 2023.

He was followed by Anthony Redpath, 42, on the day he was freed from jail after serving a sentence for drugs offences.

Redpath and four associates booted their way through his front door and found him in a bedroom with his girlfriend.

Both were attacked with machetes and swords before the gang fled the bloodbath.
