FM SAYS SORRY TO HOSPITAL FAMILIES

FIRST Minister John Swinney has said he has apologised to families who lost loved ones to an infection scandal at Glasgow's flagship hospital.

But he also repeated his view the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) is safe for patients.

The QUEH campus, which includes the Royal Hospital for Children, opened in 2015 but has been dogged by problems with its ventilation and water supply.

In the closing stages of a public inquiry into its construction - now considering its findings - health bosses admitted the deaths of some children may have been linked to the water.
