A VIOLENT pitch invasion after yesterday's Old Firm Scottish Cup match at Ibrox has been branded an "embarrassment".

After Celtic won the quarterfinal match on penalties, supporters of both clubs stormed the pitch.

Sickening scenes saw flares fired into the midst of fans, while supporters, officers and those working at the stadium came under attack.

A steward, believed to have been injured in the chaos, was seen being carried from the pitch and a number of people were pictured receiving medical treatment. A member of Celtic's coaching staff was also reportedly attacked.

As the scenes were broadcast live on Premier Sports, TV commentator Rory Hamilton said: "One of the Celtic coaching staff has been attacked by an individual.
