Work on coastal defences to resume

A COASTAL defence scheme is to restart next month after it was “paused” for the summer holidays.

The £13m project involves upgrading a sea wall and rock revetments to safeguard Kinmel Bay in Conwy county from rising seas and future storminess.
Work stopped in August to minimise tourism impacts. Cllr Nigel Smith, who represents Kinmel Bay on Conwy Council, said contractor Jones Bros will be returning to the site on Monday, November 10.
Up to 80,000 tonnes of rock are being in trucked in to reinforce revetments between Kinmel Bay and Towyn. A sea wall is also being raised 50cm-75cm.
