Full list of county's roads set to return to 30mph limit

A FULL list has now been published of the 20mph roads in Conwy that look set to turn back to 30mph.

The Welsh Government introduced the default 20mph limit in September 2023.

While it has reduced collisions, injuries and deaths in North Wales it has remained controversial. Guidance on 'exemption' roads that could stay 30mph was changed by Welsh Government in a move that has seen hundreds of additional roads across the nation return to 30mph.

Conwy council has been consulting on adding more exempt routes in the county. A limited list of changes for the Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea area was put online on Monday. Here are the recommendations:

Recommendations:

B5106 Trefriw: Retain 20mph.

B4406 Penmachno Change to 30mph. BUFFER speed limit from 40m north of its junction with Tyddyn Gethin for a distance of 580m in a south westerly direction. Consider additional measures to encourage compliance.

B5115 Colwyn Road, Craigside, Llandudno: Change to 30mph. Additional road markings at 20mph speed limit terminal point entering Llandudno. Change to 40mph to 30mph at Craigside to Penrhyn Hill for route consistency. Road section identified as Colwyn Road from 106m north of its easternmost junction with Bryn y Bia Road to a point 335m east of its junction with Nant y Gamar Road, a distance of 1.5km

B5115 Glan Y Mor Road, Penrhyn Bay: Change to 30mph. Additional road markings at 20mph speed limit terminal point entering Penrhyn Bay. Road section identified as Glan y Mor Road from Marine Drive to a point 70m west of its junction with Maesgwyn Road, a distance of 680m.
