Blackmail threat to spread false rumours of sex messages to girls

'IMMATURE’ MAN, 21, SPARED JAIL FOR ‘SERIOUS’ OFFENCE

A blackmailer told his victim to pay money or face false claims about him being spread online. Liam Jones falsely suggested the man was messaging young girls sexually and threatened to tell the man’s contacts on Facebook and Instagram if he didn’t pay up.

The victim paid Jones £100 and then £200, but Jones wanted even more money.

The police were then called in and Jones, 21, was arrested.

The victim cannot be named for legal reasons.
