DETAILS of which 20mph roads are set to change back to 30mph in part of Conwy county have been released.

The Welsh Government introduced the default 20mph limit in September 2023.

While it has reduced collisions, injuries and deaths in North Wales it has remained controversial.

Councils in Wales have always had the powers to retain some roads at 30mph but there was a huge variation across the country in the number of 'exempt' roads.

Guidance was changed by the Welsh Government in a move that has seen hundreds of additional roads across the nation return to 30mph.

Conwy council has been consulting on adding more exempt routes in the county with a full list of recommendations due to be released on Wednesday.

But shortened list for the Colwyn Bay, Rhos-on-Sea, Old Colwyn and Penrhyn Bay area has been released on social media.

This has attracted scores of comments with the recommendation to retain 30mph on one route proving controversial.

One person said they "could not believe" that decision.
