Tale of home rebuilt brick by brick to become movie

THE story of a woman who moved her house brick by brick and rebuilt it 100 miles away is being made into a film.

May Savidge's 15th-century home, Ware Hall in Ware, Herts, was set to be demolished in 1969 to make way for a new roundabout.

But determined May, then in her late 50s, instead transported the house to a plot of land she had bought in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk.

It took her a year to dismantle her home and 11 lorry trips to Norfolk after she numbered all the beams and windows like a jigsaw puzzle.
