STEAK BAKE TO EAT INN...
Daily Mirror UK
|September 25, 2025
Greggs opens first pub in city store
WITH lashings of gravy, Yorkshire puds, roasties and cauliflower cheese, it has all the makings of a traditional Sunday roast.
But at the new Golden Flake Tavern, you'll get a steak bake instead of the usual chicken or beef with your meal. Welcome to Greggs' first pub, where you can wash down one of their famous sausage rolls with a cold lager.
The restaurant will serve its first pint on Saturday in the Fenwick department store in Newcastle.
It follows the success of the "fine dining" Greggs bistro there in 2023, when tables were in demand weeks in advance. The pub will serve a Pink Jammie Pale Ale and the Gosforth 1939 Stottie Lager.
It will also have Greggs-inspired cocktails and pub grub. Diners will be offered chicken bake Parmo, which has a cheesy sauce, steak bake mixed grill, sausage roll and mash, and a Greggs ploughman's platter.
