We particularly loved its powerful cascades that genuinely work as a massage tool on creaking muscles, as well as its in-pool beds and Jacuzzis.

With a steam room, sauna and automated showers with changing temperatures, it is well worth putting aside an hour of your day for this.

FOOD AND DRINK

Breakfast looking out on to the marina is a perfect way to start your day here. We loved the cook-to-order eggs and buffet options.

One of the most relaxing aspects of this beautiful old palace is its outdoor pool, which offers panoramic sea views.

And what better way to enjoy a glorious view while your toes are dipped in the water? Of course, a glass of wine or an ice cold beer - all of which can be enjoyed at the La Ria pool bar just below the grand terrace.

Inside, there is the Bar Ingles, which offers cocktails in a unique space designed around the former library and chapel. But the hotel's pièce de résistance is the Delaunay Restaurant, where you can sample the talents of prestigious Basque chef Benat Ormaetxea.
