ERIK TEN HAG failed to land a frontline striker in January - and he blamed Financial Fair Play.

The Manchester United manager was unable to chase more firepower up front, because he could not make space within the budget and keep within the rules.

Ten Hag said that to add an extra player to his squad he first needed to off-load.

That proved beyond the Red Devils and he now needs "to be creative" to find a solution.

He said: "It's not a secret I wanted an extra striker. With to the injury Anthony Martial don't have we back-up.

"It possible was not because we have to match the FFP rules.
