Today's era is the age of information and technology, where access to knowledge has become easier than ever.

Yet, ironically, the habit of reading in society is witnessing a steady decrease. Books, which were once the major source of knowledge, motivation and entertainment, are now gradually losing their relevance in front of the digital screen and quick content. According to a survey, only 43% of adults in the US read at least one novel, poetry collection or drama in the last year, which is significantly lower than the 1980s.

Even in India, a 2020 study of the National Book Trust indicated that only 24% of young people read non-academic books regularly. This is alarming, as reading is not only important for personal development but also essential for the intellectual and cultural progress of the society.

Indeed, smartphones, social media and streaming platforms' have removed people's attention from books and turned to quick and visual-based content.

An average person spends about two and a half hours a day on social media, as reported in a study by Statista (2023). While taking time to read has become rare. Social media and video forums such as Instagram and YouTube provide short, engaging content, asking for less mental effort than in-depth reading. It is shore up a slow and thoughtful act like reading an age of quick satisfaction.
