Even in India, a 2020 study of the National Book Trust indicated that only 24% of young people read non-academic books regularly. This is alarming, as reading is not only important for personal development but also essential for the intellectual and cultural progress of the society.

Indeed, smartphones, social media and streaming platforms' have removed people's attention from books and turned to quick and visual-based content.

An average person spends about two and a half hours a day on social media, as reported in a study by Statista (2023). While taking time to read has become rare. Social media and video forums such as Instagram and YouTube provide short, engaging content, asking for less mental effort than in-depth reading.
