‘Green’ goods in govt eMarket

ELECTRIC vehicles (EVs) and cloud computing services (CCS) are now part of the government’s eMarketplace lineup of green technology products, an agency attached to Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced.

According to the Procurement Service (PS-DBM), the inclusion of EVs and CCS in the eMarketplace, the government's first and official electronic commerce platform, aims to promote sustainable and cost-efficient procurement across government agencies.

EVs are priced about 6 percent to 7 percent below market price, while CCS are marked down by up to 30 percent through committed-use discounts with a 1-year lock-in period, according to the PS-DBM, the central purchasing agent of government agencies for common-use supplies and equipment (CSE).
