MIDLAND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS TO GET HIGHEST RECOGNITION

SIX groups in Birmingham and Wolverhampton have been hailed as 'local heroes' by King Charles, receiving Awards for Voluntary Service to mark his birthday.
It's the highest honour that can be bestowed on volunteer organisations and is a mark of their incredible efforts to improve the lives of others in their neighbourhoods.
Five Birmingham organisations to land the special awards are Bethel Health and Healing Network for women, Bright Future Association, based in Balsall Heath, and Nishkam Healthcare Trust, providing vital help to communities in and around Birmingham.
Saathi House in Aston, which empowers and supports women, and road safety pioneers The Conies are also recipients.
Wolverhampton-based Secret Angels were praised for their efforts to support vulnerable people and those in dire need in Wolverhampton.
The Lord-Lieutenant for West Midlands, Derrick Anderson (the King's representative in the region) said he was thrilled to see the groups recognised.
