WITH 300 MORE CHILDREN WAITING THAN FAMILIES APPROVED, WEST MIDLANDS RESIDENTS ARE ASKED TO CONSIDER PROVIDING A PERMANENT HOME

Children in the West Midlands are waiting for safe, loving homes. If you are kind, patient and ready to learn, you could change a child’s story, and they could change yours.

You do not need to be perfect. You just need to take the first step and talk to Adopt Birmingham about what adoption might look like for you.

Across the West Midlands, there are currently 300 more children waiting in care than there are approved adopters.

Adoption agencies say the cost of living is contributing to fewer people coming forward, with sector data showing a 12% decline in prospective adopter registrations compared to last year.

According to You Can Adopt, more children are now waiting more than 18 months for a match, and the average time from approval to placement has risen to 292 days, 11 days longer than last year.

But behind each statistic is a child spending another season in temporary care, another school term without a permanent base, or a sibling pair hoping they can stay together. The need is real, local and urgent, and it is precisely why Adopt Birmingham is inviting people to explore whether adoption could be right for them.
