WINGER Shaun Whalley has signed a new one-year contract with Stanley.
-
The 37-year-old is in his second spell with the Reds, rejoining in 2022, and he won a host of accolades in the End of Season Awards, including Players' Player of the Season and joint Dave ‘Haggis’ Hargreaves Top Goalscorer.
Whalley has made 186 appearances for the Reds, with 27 goals and 24 assists, scoring nine goals last season.
Manager John Doolan said: “We can never give Shaun enough accolades. He looks after himself so well, he defies his age, he is one of the fittest at the club and we are absolutely delighted he wants to stay with us for another season.
“He is a big influence in the dressing room and conducts himself superbly on and off the pitch.”
Whalley said: “I love it at Accrington. I love the club, I love the lads in the changing room, I love the supporters - everything about it.
