POWER IN THE GARDEN
The Home Handyman
|September/October 2023
Worldwide, cordless battery powered garden and outdoor tools are taking the lead, so much so that most international brands of power tool suppliers are now manufacturing an enormous range of cordless garden, outdoor tools and equipment which now make up a larger percentage of their overall worldwide sales.
-

There are many reasons why this happening, including convenience, fuel savings, less noise, thus more acceptable in complexes, townhouses and estates, convenience and accessibility. Today battery innovation and technology has come a long way and will match any petrol-powered tools and corded garden tools. There is also less maintenance with cordless tools compared to petrol powered tools and corded garden tools. Cordless tools are also said to last longer with their brushless motors, new battery technology and quick charging. In South Africa we have the added issue of load shedding to put up with, making cordless tools a no-brainer.
WORX has a well-earned reputation for designing and manufacturing innovative, high-performance tools, and garden equipment, and the company shared its favourite garden tool innovations with us.
Mowers
The new WORX WG743 Compact, cut-to-edge cordless Lawn Mower has been introduced by Brandroid at a launch price of R9999. The combination of a large cutting deck and highcapacity batteries
The unique patented IntelliCut technology adds power when the grass gets thicker, then allows you to dial it back down to conserve battery. The cut-to-edge design gets closer than other mowers to fences, edges, and features on your lawn, for less trimming afterwards. The collapsible handle allows for easy storage in the garage during the off-season. The single-lever adjustment lets you pick between 7 cutting heights to accommodate different seasons and different preferences.
You will always know how much battery you have left with the onboard indicator. That way you will know how much more you can cut before you need to swap out batteries or recharge. Worx PowerShare is compatible with all Worx 20v and 40V tools, outdoor power, and lifestyle products. Powered by two 20V 4.0Ah Powershare batteries, for up to 500m² cutting on one charge.
