Red Rice

Rice is the staple cereal in India. Amongst the thousands of rice varieties in the market, according to Ayurveda, Raktasali (red rice) is the best Sali (rice).
This was also consumed by sages!
Bhavprakash and Nigantoo have a laundry list of its benefits. It bestows strength, helps attain healthy skin colour and complexion, mitigates all the three Doshas, is good for the eyes and voice, is diuretic and is also an aphrodisiac. It is known to relieve thirst and help alleviate fever, effects of poison, ulcers, dyspnoea, cough and burning sensation. It also augments digestive fire.
