Sir David Suchet follows in the globe-trotting footsteps of a young Agatha Christie

- CAREN CLARK HANNAH DAVIES, IAN MACEWAN

Mystery train

Sir David Suchet has always felt connected to Agatha Christie, having played her shrewd Belgian detective Hercule Poirot on TV for nearly 25 years. Now, the actor is touring the world to learn more about the iconic crime writer.

More4's five-parter Travels with Agatha Christie & Sir David Suchet sees the star journey to locations in Southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and Canada that the author, then aged 31, visited in 1922 when she accompanied her first husband, Archie Christie, on a mission to promote the 1924 British Empire Exhibition.

Along the way, Suchet takes photos with a camera similar to one owned by his photographer grandfather James 'Jimmy' Jarché.
