Between 1972 and 1978, John Wayne Gacy kidnapped and murdered 33 young men in the suburbs of Chicago – crimes that went unnoticed because the sadistic killer was a respected member of the community.

This eight-part series dramatises the police’s efforts to bring Gacy to justice, beginning when the parents of teenager Rob Piest report their son missing. The Last of Us star Gabriel Luna plays Detective Rafael Tovar, who is immediately suspicious of Gacy despite the killer’s seeming normality.

BLENDING IN

‘Tovar was a hardworking individual, and very diligent in his work,’ says Luna, 43. ‘Even after it was clearly known that Gacy was the culprit – because Gacy himself confessed – Tovar continued his pursuit of identifying the 33 victims.’
