Actor Jeff Fahey, best known for playing Capt. Frank Lapidus on Lost and for starring on The Marshal for two seasons in the mid1990s, has always been a seeker. He left home as a teenager to travel the world and pretty much never stopped. "Honestly, one thing has always led to another. It's always been an adventure," Jeff, 70, tells Closer.
His recent acting roles were filmed in some pretty far-flung places, too. One Year Off, a romantic comedy that was released digitally on Feb. 7, takes place on the Caribbean island of Nevis. Jeff also joined the production of Fireflies at El Mozote, a compelling historical war drama, in El Salvador. It is due for release later this year. "I also just finished working with Kevin Costner on Horizon," says Jeff of the spring release that was filmed in southern Utah. "I'm on the road a lot!"
So what is your working relationship with Kevin Costner like?
Really wonderful. Kevin and I go back to when we first worked together on Silverado in 1983-84. Then we worked together on Wyatt Earp, which was in the early '90s. And here we are now with Horizon. I just thought it was wonderful to see the incredible journey that he's had as an actor and a director. He's right up there with Clint Eastwood as a great filmmaker. They have a vision, but they also relate and have empathy for what their actors are going through.
You worked with Clint on 1990's White Hunter Black Heart. Was that a good experience?
I loved working with Clint. He is a wonderful, wonderful filmmaker.
