Tesla Cybertruck Long Range HIGHS: Kids think it's Minecraft for real life, plenty roomy under that pointy roof, not bad at driving itself. LOWS: Much slower, reduced capability, you can't buy one.
WELL, THIS IS AWKWARD (and we're not referring to the Tesla Cybertruck’s looks, steering, debut, or driver interface). Tesla finally came through on its promise of a less expensive, rear-drive Cybertruck, then yanked it out of the lineup.
Tesla planned the sub-$75K version from the start, but it didn’t debut until over a year into Cybertruck production. With no front motor, the rear-wheel-drive Long Range makes 321 horsepower, versus the dual-motor’s 593 horses and the tri-motor Beast’s 834. Maximum towing capacity is reduced from 11,000 to 7500 pounds. The Long Range reaches 60 mph in 6.1 seconds, against 3.9 seconds for the dual-motor and 2.6 for the Beast. That makes it the slowest Tesla we've ever tested.
