The original Red Wiggle reveals he recently underwent open-heart surgery

Less than a year after witnessing his bandmate and dear friend Greg Page collapse on stage from a heart attack, original Wiggles member Murray Cook has bravely undergone open-heart surgery.

The 60-year-old children’s entertainer, better known as the Red Wiggle, shared the news with fans on November 30, revealing he was getting the preventative surgery at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Private Hospital to replace a faulty aortic valve.

“It’s a condition I’ve been aware of all my life and I knew at some stage I’d need surgery,” Murray said. “It’s a fairly routine procedure but pretty major and I’ll be recovering for about six weeks.
