Think of any major American TV series over the past few decades and chances are character actress Caroline Aaron featured in at least one episode. After a career spent making short, sharp impressions, the veteran of the stage and screen found a home as a regular in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which is filming its fifth and final season. "I don't want it to tells end," the 69-year-old Woman's Day. "This has been so special."

You play Midge's (Rachel Brosnahan) former mother-in-law, the other Mrs. Maisel, who is marvellous in her own way. If you had to give her an adjective, what would it be?

I would say The Unfiltered Mrs. Maisel. Whatever she thinks comes right out of her mouth! I don't think she's contemplative.

You've done a lot of TV work, but is this the longest you've stayed on one show?

Yes, absolutely. It was never intended to be that way. I was supposed to be a pop-in and pop-out, but this is such a wonderful show and it kept growing and growing, so I've been so delighted to be hijacked by this team to stay with them for five years.
