Giro win shows Ineos has transformed, says ex-CEO

Tao Geoghegan Hart’s success at the Giro d’Italia and a possible win at the Vuelta a España are both vindications of Sir Dave Brailsford’s methods, with Ineos Grenadiers having already transformed themselves after their recent Tour de France disappointment.

That is the view of the team’s former CEO Fran Millar, who told Cycling Weekly that while criticism of the British super-team at September’s Tour was fair, predictions of its demise were premature.

Indeed, just five weeks after the Tour in which one stage win was all they mustered, Tao Geoghegan Hart won the Giro d’Italia and claimed two of the team’s seven stage wins. In Spain, Richard Carapaz is in with a chance of winning his second Grand Tour.

“I said you should never write Brailsford off ”
