Bert's New Health Scare Friends Rally Around Brave Aussie Legend

Fears mount that the TV icon is far from on the mend.

After two stays in hospital earlier this year, Bert Newton thought his health scare was well and truly behind him. But after the 78-year-old emerged from a Melbourne hospital late last month looking shaken, close friends have revealed to Woman’s Day that Bert and his beloved wife Patti, 72, are seriously worried about his health, and that the TV legend is not fully recovered.

“The doctors are concerned about Bert,” reveals a source close to the Newton family. “Although he is out of hospital, he is extremely frail at the moment and has a bad cough, and his chest infection is still there. He’s not completely better and is still very fragile after the pneumonia.”
