In this issue, we endeavour to look at style and substance as a point of departure in narrating the story of a home. This type of analysis is fascinating, as one will now look at very specific nuances, human elements that are sometimes impossible to put into words, much less, categorise into one single school of thought.
Erica Concepcion Reyes’s home is a beautiful reflection of how she is living—a trove of antiques, much like the jewellery for which she is known. Silver, both inherited and some acquired by her and her husband, is in abundance and used daily. For this issue, we have the pleasure of featuring the home of the irreplicable Steven Tan as our cover photo. There are undeniable elements of classical design in his contemporary abode which he describes as a modern Parisian home. Having lived in Paris for an extended period, French elements feature in Tan’s design preferences.
Being our design issue, we also have the pleasure of featuring the formidable Patrick Seguin’s thoughts on his legacy. Another designer to note is Vanessa Gaston, fresh off the heels of her presentation at Salone del Mobile.
And, of course, our Tatler Home Design Award winners. Now in its fourth iteration, this year’s awards had an esteemed panel of judges including Ramon Antonio, Budji Layug, Kenneth Cobonpue, Cynthia Almario and Cyndi Fernandez-Beltran.
