U.A.E. spacecraft takes first-ever images of Mars' moon Deimos

The U.A.E.’s Martian orbiter has released the clearest image obtained by humans of Mars’ moon Deimos.

The Amal spacecraft flew within 100 kms of Deimos in March, the closest a spacecraft has been to this moon in almost half a century. NASA’s Viking 2 came within 30 kms of Deimos in 1977. Since then, other spacecrafts have photographed Deimos but from much farther away.
