No need to let winter aches slow you down. These easy tricks will keep you pain-free all through spring

Ease pain from head to toe!

Erase shoulder soreness with milk

Icy temperatures can tighten muscles, leaving you sore. But 10 minutes of stretching daily—search “full body stretches” on YouTube.com—reduces aches by keeping muscles limber. And for even better results, get more vitamin D from food (like fortified milk and salmon) or daily supplements (600 IU if you’re 50 to 70; 800 IU if you’re 71 or over). Half of us are low in the “sunshine” vitamin in winter. And research shows combining stretches with vitamin D reduces muscle pain significantly more than stretching alone. The nutrient acts like an anti-inflammatory, easing discomfort.

Bee ‘glue’ alleviates tooth sensitivity

To ease sensitive tooth discomfort, switch to a toothpaste with propolis—a natural resin-like substance bees use to seal their hives. A new Brazilian study found propolis forms a protective layer over tiny hollow channels in your teeth, preventing nerve irritation. Try: Red Seal Propolis Herbal & Mineral Natural Toothpaste (Amazon.com).

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW

From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays

The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
