VET IN A VAN 'MY OFFICE CHANGES EVERY DAY!'

Each morning, vet Tania Mitchell and her husband Marcus get their three eldest children off to school... which means they set up their laptops wherever they are that day.

At the moment, school is a campsite along the lazy Murray River in Victoria.

But within the next month, they'll be tackling maths equations, science questions, history and English surrounded by the stunning sand formations of Mungo National Park in NSW.

When school is done for the day, Eli, 13, Charlie, 10, and Toby, seven, explore the sights, learn the history and geology of where they are, and make new friends. Their 11-month-old sister, Kaia, is along for the ride, too.

Since early 2020, the Mitchells have been crisscrossing Australia after what was initially planned to be a lap of the country became a five-year odyssey.

“We bought our caravan and left Melbourne just before Covid lockdowns and headed to my mum’s farm in Seymour. We spent seven months in our caravan there as states closed their borders. But once borders opened, we were off,” says Tania, 43.

“Getting used to living together in a tin can took a few months and we had to learn how to be in each other's space.

“But we quickly realised we loved the freedom of being able to decide where we'd move to next and how long we'd stay.
