Ash Bell still has a stark memory of being in her hospital bed, aged 11, wondering if her life would soon end because of the pain she was in.

“It was a distinct moment in my life, seeing the impact on my family and thinking, am I going to die?” Ash tells Woman's Day more than 20 years on from that harrowing moment. “I was in pain, lying in bed and not able to move. Then I overheard the doctor tell Mum and Dad that I had cancer.”
