When Marilynn McLachlan has an important event coming up, she knows that to feel her best, she must also look her best. So when she's getting ready, the New Zealand Woman's Weekly editor knows who to turn to for help and advice – her daughter Madeline Gilbert.

“I always come to Madeline for a make-up and ‘fit’ check before I go out anywhere as I know she'd never let me leave the house not looking good!” jokes Marilynn, 51.

Both women come across as calm and self-assured, and with Marilynn's help, Madeline has learned to stand tall and face her future with confidence.

“My late mother Julia took great pride in her appearance and prioritised self-care, especially skincare, and I'm very happy Madeline has a similar outlook,” says Marilynn. “She's always loved make-up and has looked after her skin well since the early days of high school.”
