Susan participated in the third series of Britain's Got Talent in 2009, auditioning with the song I Dreamed A Dream. Her audition clip has received over 680 million YouTube hits to date.

Susan has sold over 25 million albums globally and holds three Guinness World Records. She is the only British female artist to simultaneously top both the UK and US album charts, with the release of albums / Dreamed A Dream (2009) and The Gift (2010). Susan became the oldest female at No.1 on the UK albums chart for The Gift, which also became the most successful Christmas album in the UK.

She was named seventh most influential person in the world, 14 places above US President Obama, in a Time Magazine 2010 poll, and was third in Time's 2011 poll.
