Techlife News #710

A recent survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners revealed that the iPad remains highly popular among Apple customers, with 78% of recent buyers owning one, trailing only the iPhone at 94% and significantly outpacing the Mac at 36%. The data highlights the tablet's enduring appeal within Apple's ecosystem.

IPAD SURGES IN POPULARITY AMONG APPLE CUSTOMERS

The survey, conducted among recent Apple customers, focused on ownership patterns across the company's three major product lines: iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The results showed that 78% of respondents owned an iPad, making it the second most popular Apple product after the iPhone, which 94% of customers owned. Mac ownership was notably lower, with only 36% of customers possessing a Mac computer. The findings underscore the iPad's strong penetration, nearly matching the iPhone's dominance and far surpassing the Mac.

The survey also examined ecosystem engagement, finding that 74% of customers own both an iPhone and an iPad, representing nearly all iPad owners. Only 30% of customers own all three products, limited by the lower Mac ownership rate. This indicates the iPad's critical role in Apple's ecosystem, serving as a complementary device for iPhone users.

imageIPAD SALES PERFORMANCE

Apple's iPad sales have shown resilience, with recent data indicating growth. In the second quarter of Apple's 2024 fiscal year, iPad shipments increased 18.2% year-over-year, from 10.4 million to 12.3 million units, maintaining a 35.8% global tablet market share. The iPad Pro was the topselling model, accounting for 45% of sales, followed by the base iPad at 33%, with the iPad Air and Mini at 13% and 9%, respectively. These figures reflect a recovery from a 2023 decline, driven by new model launches like the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air and iPad Pro.
