APPLE'S SMARTGLASSES SET TO SPARK MARKET BOOM

Techlife News

July 05, 2025

Apple is gearing up to launch a pair of smart glasses by the end of 2027, designed to resemble RayBan's style, with a focus on audio, cameras, and AI features rather than a display.

APPLE'S SMARTGLASSES SET TO SPARK MARKET BOOM

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TFI Securities predicts these glasses will ship 3 to 5 million units in their debut year, pushing the global smart glasses market past 10 million units in 2027, a leap from the 2 million units sold in 2024. The forecast, shared in a recent note, highlights Apple's knack for turning niche gadgets into mainstream hits, much like it did with AirPods.

The glasses, part of Apple's broader push into head-mounted devices, will offer voice control, gesture recognition, photo and video recording, and Al-driven environmental sensing.

imageUnlike the $3,500 Vision Pro, a mixed-reality headset, these lightweight glasses aim for mass appeal, integrating seamlessly with iPhones and other Apple devices. Kuo expects multiple frame and material options, making them a stylish accessory for music, photography, and hands-free tasks, potentially replacing wireless earbuds or smartphone cameras for some users.

Apple's entry is poised to reshape the smart glasses market, which surged 210% in 2024, led by Meta’s RayBan glasses.

With Apple's ecosystem—1.8 billion active devices, including 800 million AirPods users—the company could dominate by leveraging its App Store and ARKit platform to spur developer apps. However, challenges like Al software refinement and competition from Meta and Amazon loom large.
