The 16 Pro offers everything that the bigger handset does, in a smaller, more usable format. It's now the best choice for most.

Unlike the last generation Pro, this year's offers a bigger screen, up from 6.1-inch to 6.3-inch, so you've got more screen real estate to play with. That's the biggest increase since the iPhone 12 Pro, which was the first to go to 6.1 inches. Resolution is 2622x1206 pixels, which remains the same 460 pixels per inch as before. That screen bump is the main reason why you might want to give the bigger Pro Max a miss, unless you really need that supersized 6.9-inch screen (up from last year's 6.7-inch display).

While it might seem like the 16 Pro is now bigger as a result of the screen boost, there's only a slight increase in case size. Instead, the bezels are now thinner, especially at the top. So, you still get a phone that fits in your pocket but also delivers a generous screen.

The look and feel of the iPhone 16 Pro is very similar to the previous model. Side by side though, the new model is slightly taller, which allows for that larger screen size. In all other dimensions, the phone appears the same. That titanium body is a little heavier too, by 12g, but not enough that you'd really notice in the hand. The water and dust resistance remains the same with up to 6 metres of depth for up to 30 minutes and a rating of IP68. At the bottom are the holes for the microphones and speaker, plus the USB-C charging port.
