Rocket League Sideswipe

Football with flying cars. That's the premise of Rocket League, which in this mobile incarnation is a side-on affair that also dips into basketball and volleyball. The structure exists for IAP hell, but instead, everything is unlocked by progress. Maybe you could argue the entire game is an ad for the console title; but even if that were the case (and it's not), playing it's a blast.

Data Wing 

This one looks like it's escaped from a 1980s arcade, what with its vector graphics and top-down racing larks. But then an Al starts blathering away in a cut-scene, and you discover the entire game is underpinned by a story with a heart-wrenching human core. It's fantastic stuff, and when you reach the end you can always head back and try to blaze through each challenge a little faster.
