Moto’s 2025 clamshell hero looks a lot like its adorable predecessor... but after a fortnight of use, will Tom Morgan-Freelander be equally enamoured?

DAY 01
The Razr 50 Ultra was a stunner of a smartphone, so I can't say I was upset when its successor arrived looking largely the same. I still think Motorola makes the best-looking clamshells, thanks in part to how that outer screen fills the front of the phone. The 60 Ultra’s new mix of rear panel materials, though? They elevate it to supermodel status.
There are versions made with vegan leather or real wood, but I'm already sold on my green review unit's Alcantara fabric. It needs a little more TLC to keep looking its best (there's a card in the box with care instructions), as durable as flip phones get right now.
Motorola has improved the hardware in all the right places, with the latest Snapdragon silicon taking it into true flagship territory and an even brighter pair of Pantone-certified OLED screens. Skinnier bezels mean the inner display now stretches across 7in; unfolded, it dwarfs even the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. Resolution has been bumped to match, so everything looks tack-sharp – and I'm having to look very hard to spot the central crease.
I'm excited to test the new camera setup, which ditches the dedicated telephoto of last year's model for an ultrawide. The 50MP lead snapper uses sensor cropping for lossless 2x zoom and is physically larger than before, while the AI editing tools sound promising.
