We found this app the most accurate of them all in the UK...and yet it's properly old-school, giving you a forecast provided by an actual live human. So batten down the hatches if they scream "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" at the camera. Elsewhere, alerts are provided as lists and also in map form, so you can see by way of massive yellow and orange blobs when there's no escape from an oncoming storm.

Carrot Weather

Forget the Android app, which is so old it's covered in cobwebs. But on iPhone and iPad, Carrot is a marvel - if you pay. With a sub you can create custom layouts, placing maps and rainfall predictions front and centre. Alerts include an 'air raid' sound for life-threatening conditions. And if that isn't terrifying enough, the app is helmed by a human-hating Al dedicated to humanity's eradication.
