As grabbable as a latte, and with a built-in battery, is this a true take-anywhere projector? Tom Morgan-Freelander spends a wall-gazy fortnight finding out...

DAY 01
Portable projectors have been doing the rounds for years, but it feels like the tech world has gone gaga for 'em all of a sudden. Yet most new models seem to have ignored the 'portable' bit-relying on mains power to get their shine on. So when the Xgimi MoGo 4 arrived promising to fix the biggest barrier to mobile movie magic, my interest was piqued.
The successor to the MoGo 3 Pro has a battery built in, so it doesn't rely on accessories or optional extras to cut the cord.
It's also been given a styling upgrade plus more convenient connectivity, slicker controls, and a fun set of filters that let it double as an ambient light show. Quite the feature set for something that's barely bigger than a venti frappuccino (to use Starbucks' barista lingo).Moving the speakers from the base into the main unit has helped shrink the dimensions from its already compact predecessor: I just about managed to squeeze it into my backpack's water bottle holder, so you really can cart it just about anywhere. The rotating stand now turns the full 360° too, which should make aligning the picture a breeze.
