THE CREATE ESCAPE

FUJIFILM X-T50

1,24,500 [body only]/fujifilmxindia.com A t just 438g without a lens, the X-T50 is a wonderfully compact mirrorless camera.

It has a modest hand-grip and a distinctive top plate filled with control dials: three of them, plus two customisable single-stacked command dials within easy reach of your right thumb and index finger.

The touchscreen LCD tilts in two directions for high/low-angle shooting, but it doesn't flip out for vlogging or rotate inwards to protect the LCD while the camera is in a bag - best invest in a screen protector.

The new film simulation dial takes pride of place on the left side. Here you can scroll through seven different colour treatments (well, eight if you count the standard Provia recipe), configure a further three presets, and assign a single custom mode.

We like the auto lever built into the shutter speed dial - this makes it dead easy to pick a film simulation and then simply snap away.

As there's just a single SD card slot, for on-the-fly backups you'll need to use Fuji's companion app via the built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. It's very slick, with a timeline of camera bodies and lenses, shot counts for each film sim, and location tracking if you let your phone supply the GPS data.

The X-T50 can do 4K@60p in camera, and with an external recorder connected it can manage oversampled 6K@30p in 10-bit 4:2:2 RAW. Just keep in mind clip length is thermally limited: it'll do an hour in 25°C ambient temperatures.

Fuji says the X-T50 can last around 390 shots between charges, which checked out in our testing, sticking to the performance mode and using a mix of EVF and LCD for composition. We drained a cell in 4hrs of continuous use.
