LIFE IN THE FAST BRAIN

Remarkable 2

₹43,999 / amazon.in

This e-ink miracle is the paper purist’s digital grail - a distraction-free zone where thoughts can roam freely but not for free.

Home is where the smart is – and in this case that can mean everything from domestic robots to creativity tools

In a world dominated by screens, the Remarkable 2 stands out as a refreshing ode to the humble notepad. It’s a digital notepad that manages to capture the essence of writing on paper, while offering the convenience of digital storage and organization.

The Remarkable 2 is a sleek and minimalist device, with a thin profile and a lightweight design. It’s comfortable to hold and use, even for extended periods of time. The tablet comes with a Marker Plus, which has a textured finish that replicates the scratching of a pen on paper. Trust us, it’s very satisfying to use.

This thing runs on a custom operating system based on Linux, which means that it’s free from the distractions of apps and notifications. This makes it an ideal device for those who want to focus on their writing without interruptions. Our Managing Editor uses this over the Apple iPad for taking down notes during product presentations and game reviews. It’s really a distraction-free device.

No LEDs here, this uses e-ink technology, which is known for its low power consumption and paper-like appearance. However, e-ink displays can also be slow and laggy. The Remarkable 2 overcomes this challenge with clever AI and ML algorithms that predict your writing behavior. The result is a smooth and responsive writing experience that’s almost indistinguishable from writing on paper. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a backlit LED panel so you can’t use it at night without a lightsource shining on the display. It’s like reading on paper so there’s less eye fatigue as well.
