Social media was largely to thank for the resurgence of compact cameras in 2023, with influencers helping undo some of the damage caused by two decades of snowballing smartphone sales. That rolled on into the following year, as Fujifilm's X100VI enjoyed stratospheric sales success... but not everyone has the cash for a flagship camera, or wants a fixed lens. The X-M5 wants to be the answer for those people.
The new entry point to Fuji's interchangeable-lens lineup shrinks down to very nearly pocketable dimensions without skimping too much on the sensor. The retro styling is pretty much what I've come to expect from a modern Fuji camera, but if you want your lenses to match you're better off opting for the black-bodied version, as not all compatible glass is available in silver.
