A fully fledged successor to the brilliant but brief Astro's Playroom has finally landed. The only question for PS5 owners is, can it stretch that winning formula out over a whole game?
-

PlayStation has been home Pto a whole host of mascot platformers, from Crash Bandicoot to Jak and Daxter.. and in Astro Bot, it's finally found a new one.
With the components and crew of his PS5-shaped mothership scattered across the cosmos, Astro must visit over 50 colourful planets on his trusty Dual Speeder to track them down, taking in everything from giant casinos and spooky graveyards to a floating bath-house on the way. Each one is absolutely stunning to look at, but there's also a decidedly Nintendo-like attention to detail that rewards exploration.
For a 3D platformer to really stand the test of time, the controls need to be perfect, and our robotic hero is a perfectly weighted creation: lighter on his feet than your average automaton, with foot-jets to aid jumping and an arsenal of attacks. But it's the power-ups, which can do everything from slowing down time to transforming Astro into a sponge or balloon, that will really put a smile on your face.
