Tech firms rival fastfood companies when it comes to marketing disappointment, says Jon Honeyball

There are many things to be disappointed with in modern life.
-
We could start with most politicians. Then move on to those people responsible for rolling out electric car-charging capabilities, especially in blocks of flats and roads with no off-street parking. Or Nextbase, which is still claiming that Roadwatch Al is “coming soon” for its flagship IQ dashcam after almost two years of waiting.
Yesterday, I tried to order Indian food from a local place - friends and I were introducing one of our flock to the wonders of Thunderbirds and then a Bond film (The Spy Who Loved Me, of course). He had seen neither before, for some inexplicable reason. My local curry house has a website where you can order the food. This looked just what we needed, right up until the point where the “checkout” simply said that it couldn’t take card payment through the website, and that I would have to pay cash on delivery. I phoned them up, and repeated the order and then paid by card. What’s the point of the ordering system on the website if you can’t pay for the dinner? Fortunately what arrived was a significant step up from the usual crushing, and crushed, disappointment that I see elsewhere.
